0016 - A Noise Agency

So what was it I said in my post about 20/20 - "whenever I hear or read of something as being post-punk, I expect it to either sound like Dead Kennedys or Wire." So it's a big hurrah to A Noise Agency for reinforcing my preconceptions.

That might read a bit snarkily, but I don't mean it to - I like them. A Noise Agency (not to be confused with experimental soundscapologists Noise Agency...) are yet another group of obscure mid-80s LA post-punks about whom I can't find very much information.

They appear to have released one album in 1985, Mom's In The Kitchen, and a 1987 single, The Dollar Was King, which claims to be from an album called Chewed Up & Spit Back Out, but I can't find any evidence in my brief research that the album was ever released.

Both tracks I have are from Mom's In The Kitchen. Looking At You is a nice piece of angry, dry punk that in places sounds rather like early Buffalo Tom to my ears:

Fun is a bit more throwaway and, well, fun, but is still classic post-punk, clocking in at just over a minute in length:

So another decent sounding band who've sadly disappeared without leaving much trace and another who I'd certainly pick up an album by at a reasonable price (although picking up the turntable to play it on might prove problematic...).
