0002 - 100 Flowers

100 Flowers are a post-punk three piece from Los Angeles who started life in 1978 as The Urinals, changed their name to 100 Flowers in 1981, disbanded in 1983, reformed (after some members spent time in Trotsky Icepick), again as The Urinals, in 1996, changed their name to Chairs Of Perception (which is a great name) some time after 2003 and then back to The Urinals in 2008. Awesome.

I've got three tracks by the 100 Flowers incarnation of the band, all from volume 9 of the lovingly curated LA Post-Punk collections at the wonderful Scavenged Luxury LA Post-Punk blog, and between them, they offer up a pretty good cross section of minimalist, lo-fi post-punk.

All Sexed Up, which I can best describe as slacker funk:

The Wire-esque Our Fallout (although it also reminds me quite a lot of the Pixies' Something Against You):

The third track I have is a sub-two-minute, straight-ahead punk thrash, also titled 100 Flowers:

This is good stuff and I'm looking forward to lots more of this LA Post-Punk.
